The directors and committee have been hard at it over the off season to ensure that we provide our members with the best club experience we can.
We have been working hard on the following:
· Revised training and opportunities for game time. This is looking to increase hockey time for all age groups.
· New team shirts and associated training kit from a one stop supplier. The designs will be coming to you soon.
· The changing room project has slowly but surely passed a couple more hurdles in the background and we are working with the school and local council to keep it moving, albeit slowly, we want to ensure that we are able to maximise the size and quality for our investment and gain as much sponsorship along the way!
· Ensuring we attend and contribute to all local and national hockey discussions and committee to have our voice heard.
Unfortunately, I also have to report that during the off season England Hockey have forged ahead with a restructure of the governance of the sport and as a direct result have increased our affiliation fees from £1,100 in 24-25 to approximately £2,500 in 25-26.
Being a not for profit club every year we aim to keep our costs as low as possible as they are covered by our membership and match fees. Due to the significant increase we are having to take the hard decision to increase the memberships fees by £15 per member to meet these increased costs. This will see the following membership fees for 25-26:
· Under 7’s - £75 (£37.50 per instalment)
· Juniors, 11-18, students & those not in employment - £135 (£67.50 per instalment)
· Over 18 - £165 (£82.50 per instalment)
It is acceptable to pay in 2 equal instalments if that helps but please ensure that the first is made by the end of October and the second by the end of January.
As always, we do have a small pot to support a limited number of those who are keen to participate but would find it difficult with today’s financial pressures. We aim to be an inclusive club and wouldn’t want anyone to miss out, so please speak to one of the directors whose details can be found on our website.
Match fees for those playing on Saturdays remain unchanged.
The club have been out in the wider community trying to secure sponsorship to support other initiatives, but we would always welcome any additional support we can, and I am happy to discuss this with potential donors.
For me hockey is all about having fun and meeting new people whilst staying active and building life long friendships so I hope you all have a great season.
