Tavistock Men’s 3rd team play in South-Western District One of the N4 Financial Solutions League, with 22 league matches to complete this season. With a mixture of youth and experience, the team aims to finish higher than last years undeserved 10th place, though the other teams in this division vary widely in ability. This is achievable as several younger players will now be stronger and more experienced than a year ago.
The objective is to see individual players progress through to the 2nd team as they strengthen their games, rather than get the 3rds promoted into the same division as the 2nds. This will hopefully lead to some existing 2nd team players following this years captain Bob Cowen’s example and join the 3rds, where they can continue to play competitive hockey and usually get a full match.
All players are encouraged to play a full part in club activities by joining in with most of the Men’s 1sts and 2nds training sessions, being invited on the end of season tour and attending a wide range of club social events.
