Tavistock Mens 2nd team play in the South-West
Division 1 league. For the season 2008 / 2009 their aim will be to end higher in the league to which they were promoted at the end of the 2005/2006
season.
Tavistock Men’s’ 2nd team is an intermediate squad looking to bring in the best of the young up and coming 3rd team players, while providing a breeding ground for future 1st team players. All this is backed up with a wealth of experience from team members who’ve seen it all and got the polo shirt!
We play in South-West Division 1, one league above our third team, which involves away games in Devon and Cornwall stretching between Plymouth and Penzance.
Whilst promotion is not a priority, improving on last years 8th place certainly is. The way to do this is quite simply to improve consistency. As well as trying to use a fairly settled squad the emphasis is to encourage greater attendance at training, concentrating on different hockey skills each week (suggestions are welcome).
Besides playing in the league, the Men’s’ 2nd team also enter the Devon Cup.
All players are encouraged to attend the end of the season tour, (Bristol last season) the club presentation night and a range of other club social events throughout the year.
